Make a Difference
What is it?
Inclusion MUSTS
-
Communicate with ALL stakeholders regularly
-
general education teachers, parents, students, admin, etc.
-
-
Develop a vision/mission with your co-teacher(s) and STICK to it
-
Let your co-teacher(s) know how much you appreciate them
-
they let you come into their classroom
-
they are willing to try something new
-
-
Focus on the PROGRESS not the PROCESS
-
Remember that the main goal in all classrooms is that students can show academic PROGRESS
-
Be open to brainstorming WITH your co-teacher(s) to develop effective PROCESSES
-
-
Remember that schedules change and that it's going to be okay
-
be flexible; life happens; things don't always go as panned
-
-
BREATHE and remind yourself that you are there for the kiddos
What the heck is this inclusion thing people keep talking about?
Inclusion is when students that have IEPs stay within the general education classroom, while the special education teacher and general education teacher work together to co-teach and provide supports for ALL students to feel academic success. Personally, I believe that Inclusion can do amazing things for all of our students when there is a team on board with the right plan for success.

You really do have to have an ALL-IN attitude. Inclusion means being a part of a TEAM; working together to
problem solve.
